If you said Camel you are right.  Camels have three stomachs, they can hold five gallons of water. Their humps don't store water but fat.Looking at the picture above Camels have two eyelashes to keep sand and dust out of them.  God was sure amazing to create such an awesome  camel to survive desert conditions.

Hummingbirds Facts

I just love hummingbirds my sisters said I act just like a hummingbird when I do anything. My logo for Rejoice Within is the hummingbird.  They are such an amazing little bird.  Here are some facts I found about them:
  • Eat Insects and Spiders, nectar of flowers
  • Only bird that can fly forwards, backwards, sideways and upside down
  • They cannot walk feet were made for perching
  • Males have bright shiny feathers that changes colors
  • Females have duller colors so they can hide more easily
  • Nests made of twigs, leaves, plants, moss and spiderwebs
  • They perch into trees to save energy
  • They lay 2 small white eggs. The males don't help with raising the young
  • Wings beats 50-60  times per second  and rotate wings in a complete circle
  • Sharp long bills long tube tongue
  • 340 species of hummingbirds
  • Bee Hummingbirds are the smallest hummingbirds birds they measure at 2 inches long and they live in Cuba
  • Hunted: Snakes, hawks, cats, praying mantises and large spiders
  • Cannot smell well but they have great eyesight

When I wrote Adventure to Faith River I had to do research on ducks/mallards.  Below are interesting facts I found about them. Every time I see them flying overhead, I send them a prayer and safe journey.
Duck Facts:
  • Male ducks are called Drake
  • Females called Hen
  • Babies called Ducklings
  • Ducks are monogamous
  • Nesting: 5 white eggs inside nest.  The hen sits on them 4 weeks and she turns the eggs over four times to keep them warm.
  • Predator to Duck eggs: Weasel, Foxes and Crows
  • Predator to Ducks: Feared Marsh Hawk
  • Molting: Every summer old feathers fall off while news feather grow back. Molting last 3 weeks and they cannot fly until the feathers are grown.
  • Sounds they make: squeaks, chirps, grunts, groans, whistles, and growls.
  • Difference between mallards and ducks: Mallard have more colors and Ducks are smaller with different colors not as colorful compared to mallards.
  • If a predator is near by the female hen, she will pretend she is injured to protect her chicks.
