Have You Written Down Your Life Experiences Yet?  Storytelling Can Lead to Healing and Finding Oneself

Have you ever just written down all about your own authentic story about yourself? Happy time or not so happy times?  Finding shows just telling our own life stories, we can disconnect from our suffering and worries and letting it all out onto a piece of paper.

There are two options of releasing your story. First, you just write it all down and after having a ceremony of burning the papers… so to help you let go of all those pinned up emotions. (Burn the papers in a safe fireplace or safe fireproof bowl. If burning outside do not burn on a windy day).  Letting it all go as the papers burn. Take a deep breath in and out and feel the pressure releasing.

The second choice is an exciting idea. It is my favorite choice.  I guess that is why I started writing picture books, fiction and non-fiction. Besides, having a blog. I wanted to help others through my writings. I can tell my life experiences and share them with others.
You too can share by starting to write your own life story.

It’s the most uplifting feeling of just writing and sharing with others your life experiences good and bad. A double exchange happens to you and the reader.  By you just sharing your story, you may have given that other person the hope they need to keep moving. Show them they are not alone.

When it comes to yourself; just writing can help you release the past, stresses, burdens and worries a situation created. They may be the ones that have been eating way at you for years. Even just telling about a ridiculous or funny situation you experience can be uplifting to someone else. Just writing it all down is a process of letting it out and in the open.

The benefits of just drafting your own story, can also stimulate hope in your life.  Maybe brainstorming on ways to deal with a certain issue.  It’s a way to help you heal mentally and physically through storytelling.

I volunteer at a nursing home as an activity helper.  I always remember an older couple who lived at the nursing home. They both could not write because of an illness.  Their son each weekend, he would make a video of his parents telling their own life story. He later shared the video with the couple’s grandchildren and siblings. It was such a special gift. After the couple pass on, the video played at the memorial service.

If you cannot write or it is too difficult for you. You can do as the son did above by making a video or audio story about your life.  Have fun with this project by adding artwork, recipes and even jokes.  It is a story all about the awesome person you are.

Take out a notebook and let your life story flow from your memories to the pen at hand.
