Journal Writing Exercise: Choose Your Favorite Book. Now It's Time to Really Look Inside to See How It's All Put Together
Locate your favorite book on your Kindle or on your bookshelf. Write in your journal three parts: Write the BEGINNING and scroll down the page and write The MIDDLE and scroll down the page again and write the END.Go back to the BEGINNING header and write down what happens in the start of the book. Stop and now scroll down to the MIDDLE header and write down what happens in the middle of the book. Last, scroll down to the END write down how the story wraps up.This exercise will introduce you to the concept that all stories no matter if it’s fiction or non-fiction follow the three parts. Now go back through your journal writings to find one story you have written. Take out three highlighters: yellow for the beginning, blue for the middle and pink for the ending.Read through your writing and highlight the color that relate to each part your written.This exercise is great for editing your work or just seeing how you can improve or cut something.
