What Makes You Smile When You Are Sad? This journal exercise is a great activity when you are feeling a little blue. After I complete my writing, I felt the weight of my troubles lifted. Take the challenge a little farther. Write down what makes you smile on one page. Turn the page and write down what makes you sad? Read over both pages and see how you can change the sad page into a smile page. My sad page always look like a total mess as I cross out words and added happy thoughts and words to uplift all the negativity I was feeling. It surely changed my mind set and made me want to smile.
