I just read the Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. I couldn’t put it down. She pulls the reader into each chapter and scene. You become part of the book lover’s life. Monsieur Jean Perdu is the booklover/bookseller who has the gift to prescribe books to his customers. Each book he prescribes helps his customer cope with whatever they are struggling with at that time. I know if I was Perdu customer, he would surely prescribe the Little Paris Bookshop to me. I could relate with all the characters. The story dealt with love, lost, time to grieve and finding time to letting go of tied up emotions. It’s a book that draws you in through wanting something so badly knowing it can never be. The process of learning to let go. Like Jean I believe we are always searching and looking for a past lover/ first love. After the relationship breaks up, we are only left with remorse and unforgivable memories that haunt us daily. We keep hoping that certain someone would come back into our life. Years go by alone dealing with grief, sorrow and lost… watching and hoping just maybe. Sadly, the other person has already move on with a new relationship. You instead are struggling emotionally with a passion you cannot control as you keep recalling the times you had together. The fragile heart breaks, every time we think of that person and longing for their touch or just to hear their voice. It’s not until we take a trip like Jean to finally remove the cobwebs and see a new world just over the horizon. Knowing we will always have the memories of our first love…they will always keep us warm cold nights or through difficult times. To live we must struggle through our emotions and find love and peace within ourselves. I hope you get the chance to read Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George. Her writings are so poetic and lovely. It’s a great summer read. Purchase on Amazon or check it out at your local library.
